Lost in Pisa

Questa è la settimana più importante per Pisa, si celebra San Ranieri (il santo dell'acqua, infatti io che sono atea e poco amante dell'estate, ho un innata simpatia per il patrono di Pisa, soprattutto per il suo potere di abbassare le temperature.

Ecco qui un post che tengo in serbo da agosto 2015, dal giorno in cui abbiamo deciso di trasformare una mattina ordinaria in un vacanza straordinaria, facendo pochi più di due chilometri in auto, e oggi 17 giugno mi sembra proprio il giorno giusto per pubblicarlo, senza dimenticare la grande promozione  del Pisa in serie B, insomma pronti per iniziare il viaggio (e il titolo poteva anche essere "la Grande Bellezza", ma sicuramente il sottotitolo sarà "Lasciate ogni speranza voi che entrate", rubato a un noto poeta di una città rivale..)

This is the most important week for Pisa, San Ranieri is celebrated (the holy water, in fact, that I am an atheist and a little summer loving, I have an innate sympathy for the patron saint of Pisa, mainly because of its power to lower the temperatures).

Here's a post regarding August 2015, the day when we decided to turn an ordinary morning in a great vacation, doing a few more than two kilometers by car! Today June 17th I think its the right day to publish it, without forgetting the great promotion of Pisa in Serie B, in short, ready to begin the journey (and the title could be "The Great Beauty", but surely the subtitle will be "Let each hope ye who enter here ", stolen from a well-known poet of a rival city ..)

Pisa, come ebbe a dire Giacomo Leopardi, è una città che conserva ancora un qualcosa di villereccio, di campagnolo. Le mura civiche anticamente segnavano il perimetro entro il quale si poteva costruire, al di fuori erano c'erano i terreni in cui si svolgeva l'agricoltura e dove ancora la Natura regnava con le sue bellezze e le sue problematiche. Attraverso il quartiere di Porta a Lucca e la sua atmosfera da piccolo villaggio  cominciamo ad immergersi nei fasti della Grande Pisa... a volte basta averne voglia per viaggiare nel tempo!

 Uno dei luoghi più famosi del mondo, qui oltre ai quattro gioielli in marmo bianco (ma che , nel loro candore, contengono una moltitudine di colori e storie curiose), oltre al rinfrescante prato verde e al cielo di Pisa che è parte integrante di Piazza dei Miracoli, una delle attrazioni principali e la geometria umana folle e colorata che circonda la torre campanaria più ribelle del mondo conosciuto.

Se cercate il bagno di folla, questo è il posto giusto! Se volete abbagliarvi alzate gli occhi a questo cielo perfetto, oggi così raro! Noi andiamo per musei... Con un unico biglietto (dal costo di 5 euro) possiamo visitare il Museo delle Sinopie, la Cattedrale (il Duomo!) e il Palazzo dellOpera del Duomo, che nel 2015 ha ospitato una magnifica mostra dedicata a Arnaldo Pomodoro, noi iniziamo proprio da qui, seguiteci!

Incredibile come l'arte contemporanea, in questo caso le sculture di Arnaldo Pomodoro, siamo armoniosamente amalgamate e immerse in queste storiche stanze, dove tra arte religiosa e civica, grandi finestre che mostrano opere di incredibile architettura (e un carnevale continuo di turisti e bastoni da selfie, mescolati a forze dell'ordine e venditori ambulanti), si racconta la storia della città in cui sono nata.

Amazing how contemporary art, in this case the sculptures by Arnaldo Pomodoro, we are harmoniously blended and immersed in these historic rooms, where between religious and civic art, large windows that show the incredible architecture works (and an ongoing carnival of tourists and sticks by selfies, mixed with law enforcement and street vendors), it tells the story of the city where I was born.

Un giro intorno al Duomo di Pisa è sempre un ritorno all'infanzia. Ecco le "unghie del diavolo", tante volte sono stata qui con la mia nonna per contare quelle che la leggenda indica come i segni delle  unghie del diavolo e si finisce per diventare matti, i conti non tornano mai!

A tour around the Duomo of Pisa is always a return to childhood. Here are the "claws of the devil", so many times I was here with my grandmother to count those that the legend shows how the marks of the devil's nails and you end up going mad, does not add up ever!

Questo un dettaglio del Battistero. Chi fa compagnia a Giuseppe Garibaldi? Forse Giuseppe Mazzini?! Sono qui da dopo un restauro ottocentesco.

Poi la grandezza degli interni della Cattedrale; qui il Romanico Pisano si incontra con l'arte bizantina e islamica, tutto questo guarda al "futuro" e alle "radici" della storia di Pisa e di tutti noi... Un popolo mediterraneo che, troppo spesso, dimentica di esserlo.
